Stradivari Model Violin ca 1900

This violin is modeled after Stradivarius and probably made in Markneukirchen, Saxony around 1900.  The instrument is in very good restored condition.  Varnish is red-brown with golden highlights.  Spruce top is of two pieces with fine to medium grain, with grain widening out at the outer edges of the top.  The one piece maple back is highly figured with horizontal flames.  A well repaired vertical crack is located on the left lower bout of the back.
The tone of this instrument is excellent, with a warm rounded sound that carries well in the hall.  The upper end is silvery and the lower end is full bodied.  It is an excellent orchestral violin, and may have the potential to be a solo instrument.
