15 3/8 inch Viola modeled
after Stradivarius
Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis
Faciebat Anno 1723
|
This is a 15 3/8 inch long viola modeled after Stradivarius. The varnish is red-brown with golden highlights, showing very desirable shading and natural wear pattern with a warm patina. Top is spruce of medium straight grain with ample evidence of “bear claw” figure which is most desirable. Back and ribs are of a well flamed maple. The back is of two pieces. Purfling and edge work is very well done. Strad patterned F holes are well executed. Scroll and neck have been nicely carved with a pleasant open spiral with excellent symmetry. Neck maple is of a tighter flame than the back. Price is $5000. |
